The Milwaukee Brewers announced that Burch Smith was sent back to AAA San Antonio. After pitching three plus innings and getting the tough luck, extra-inning loss against the Cubs on Sunday, Smith was the obvious choice to accrue airline miles for a trip back to Texas. Jacob Barnes and his fresh arm will be returning to the major league squad.

The Brewers obviously need a fresh arm, if not arms after the second extra inning affair in the last ten days. Smith was the call up in response to the last time the Brewers were in this situation. He pitched relatively well in his time with the big league club, but it was his turn to go down and get ready for the next call up.
Jacob Barnes and his “great stuff” comes back to the Brewers. In 12 plus big league innings, Barnes gave up 10 earned runs and a 7.30 ERA. While in San Antonio, Barnes has pitched in two games and in two innings recording a 4.50 ERA.
