The newest Milwaukee Brewer, Jordan Lyles, will make his debut in the rotation tonight against the Oakland As.
Craig Counsell said Jordan Lyles will start Wednesday night in Oakland.

David Stearns reacquired Lyles on Monday for Minor Leaguer Cody Ponce. Lyles was with Milwaukee late last season but the team allowed him to become a free agent and he signed with Pittsburgh. After a great first nine starts, Lyles has struggled mightily out of the rotation and is hoping a change of scenery will help pull him out of his slump. Through his 17 starts this season, Lyles currently sports a 5.36 ERA with a 4.81 FIP.
The Thursday starter is still listed as “TBD.” It’s unclear who Milwaukee is hoping takes that spot, but there’s a small chance it could be another new hurler if David Stearns works some more magic today. We do know that it won’t be Gio Gonzalez as he was reportedly pushed back to a weekend appearance at best.
Gio Gonzalez will play catch today, and he’s optimistic he’ll make his next start either Friday or Saturday vs Cubs. Craig Counsell said the best case scenario is him avoiding the IL.
