A strong pitching performance from the Brewers on Saturday means the team has a chance to take the series against the Cubs this afternoon at Wrigley Field.
There are plenty of reinforcements available with expanded rosters taking effect today, but Gio Gonzalez will get the ball first for the Brewers. He was scheduled to face Yu Darvish, but in a potential break for the Brewers, Darvish was scratched with forearm tightness and Tyler Chatwood will get the start instead in what might become a bullpen game for both teams if Craig Counsell and Joe Maddon want to manage it that way.
The Brewers’ lineup is still hampered with nagging injuries, with Mike Moustakas, Ryan Braun and Lorenzo Cain again all out of the starting lineup. Anthony Rizzo is missing from the lineup for the Cubs, while Jonathan Lucroy will catch and hit 5th.
First pitch is 1:20 p.m. CDT.
