Milwaukee Brewers re-sign Tuffy Gosewisch to minors deal

12

The Milwaukee Brewers officially confirmed the previously reported signing of Logan Morrison earlier this afternoon, but that was not the only addition that the club made today. The Brewers also announced the re-signing of catcher Tuffy Gosewisch to a minor league contract. The 36 year old spent last season with Triple-A San Antonio, batting .205/.299/.308 with three home runs in 134 plate appearances for a meager 51 wRC+. The veteran is generally a well respected presence on defense in terms of receiving, framing, and throwing, and likely wouldn't have been asked to come back if he wasn't seen as a positive influence on the young pitching staff in Triple-A. Gosewisch has appeared in parts of four seasons in the big leagues but not since 2017, and he owns a modest .190/.228/.271 slash line with five homers in 447 plate appearances.
