The World Series may be coming to an end as soon as tonight, and that means the clock will soon be ticking on the first set of decisions David Stearns will have to make.
Complicating those matters — commissioner Rob Manfred being non-commital on a few key roster-building factors, like whether or not there will be a DH in the National League moving forward, or if it was just a one-year deal.
Still, Stearns & Co. will have about a week after the final out of the Fall Classic to make decisions on the players they hold on options on for next season. Who will they accept options on, and who will they decline? We cover that in this week’s episode, along with which rule changes we’d like to see moving forward, which ones we want to see stay away (coughexpandedplayoffscough), and answer a bunch of listener questions.
A reminder you can get question priority — basically a guarantee we’ll talk about whatever you want us to, including but not limited to the Transcontinental Railroad and its effects on westward expansion — if you sign up to become a $5 patron at patreon.com/MKETailgate. That also applies for our weekly Packers podcast, Reporting As Eligible, and you’ll also get Paul Noonan’s weekly Packers game preview mini-pod and a monthly Brewers Minor League Extra podcast.
