Could the Brewers have the best offense in baseball?

When you dig into the numbers you start to see just how badly the Brewers under performed last year in comparison to the previous year.

Yelich OPS of .786 in 2020 and .1100 in 2019

Hiura OPS of .707 in 2020 and .938 in 2019

Garcia OPS of .659 in 2020 and .796 in 2019.

Narvaez OPS of .562 in 2020 and .813 in 2019.

even Urias OPS of .602 in '20 and .655 in 2019

This under performance doesn't even include the blackholes of Holt, Smoak and Sogard or the at bats taken by Gamel instead of Lorenzo Cain.

The team OPS in 2020 was .702 or the sixth worse in baseball. If just Yelich, Hiura, Garcia and Narvaez had equaled their 2019 levels and had received the same number of at bats as they did in 2020 than the Brewers would have had a .790 team OPS --- the best in baseball!

This makes this off season extremely difficult for the team management. Do they believe that these four players (Yelich, Hiura, Garcia and Narvaez) plus Cain can be closer to their 2019 selves? If so, than the Brewers could live with a minor up tick in production from third (Urias) and more at bats for Vogelbach at first and have a very good offensive ball club.

And if these players revert back to 2019 offensive levels of production and the pitching holds than this could be a special team. .
