Milwaukee Milkmen, American Association release 2020 schedule

1

While Rob Manfred stated earlier today that it's no longer certain that MLB will take the field in 2020, the independent American Association announced their return to play on Friday and this afternoon released their official schedule for this summer's shortened regular season. Beginning on July 3rd, the six active AA teams will play 60 games over the course of 10 weeks, with six game days per week and every Monday off. Each team will play 42 of their games at their assigned "pod" -- 30 as the "home" team 12 as the "away" team. Our local Milwaukee Milkmen are sharing the Ballpark Commons in Franklin with the Chicago Dogs. The Cream City's indy ball nine will also make trips to Sioux Falls, SD to face the Sioux Falls Canaries and St. Paul Saints as well as Fargo, North Dakota to meet the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Winnipeg Goldeye. Opening Day will be during Independence Day weekend on July 3rd with the Milkmen versus the Dogs. The season will culminate with the top two teams meeting in a best-of-five series for the American Association Championship beginning on September 10th. The American Association is partnering with Baseballism to present "The return of live baseball in a safe and fun environment this summer – For Love of the Game!" As a reminder, the league's dispersement draft takes place on the afternoon of June 16th, and the Milkmen hold the first pick. Players report to training camp beginning on June 25th to prepare for the season.
