Milwaukee’s Tailgate Podcast: Jinxing the offense into waking up

Even with offense down across the league, the Brewers have managed to be even worse than that through the first couple weeks

Full disclosure: We typically record the Milwaukee’s Tailgate podcast on Sunday mornings, meaning a lot of what we talked about on this week’s episode — including how bad Justin Smoak is and how disappointing Keston Hiura and Christian Yelich have been — ended up being almost immediately and hilariously outdated once the Brewers capped off a 9-3 win over the Reds with those three playing a major role.

The podcast jinx remains alive and well, except now we intend to use it for Good.

Still, the Brewers’ offense remains near the bottom of the league in the early-going, and on this week’s episode, we take a deeper dive into what’s been behind it (and find a way to blame the Cardinals for it). We also talk about the pitching, which has been encouraging, and Paul’s frustrations with how Josh Hader has been used to this point in the season.

You can get question priority in next week’s podcast and get access to the Minor League Extra podcast with Ryan Topp and BCB’s Brad Ford by becoming a patron at patreon.com/MKETailgate. In just the last week, they interviewed Chris Mehring, play-by-play and PR man of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, about what life at the alternate training site has been like, so be sure to sign up to get access to that info and all of the other prospect talk we’ve been covering over the last few months.

You can listen to this week’s Milwaukee’s Tailgate here, the Spotify embed above, or just about anywhere else you get your podcasts. If you do listen, reviews are always welcome.
