As the trade deadline approaches, the Brewers have decided to trade one of their better relievers this season:
Phillies getting David Phelps from Brewers, sources tell me and @MattGelb.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) August 31, 2020
David Phelps has put together a strong season, posting a 2.77 ERA and 2.75 FIP in 13 innings over 12 appearances so far this season, with 20 strikeouts compared to 2 walks in those innings.
We don’t know what the return will be for Phelps yet, but multiple sources are saying that the Brewers will get back three prospects.
Phillies will trade multiple low-level pitchers to Milwaukee, all PTBNL. Could be two or three, according to sources.

Phelps is a Girardi favorite. He has a $4.5 MM club option for 2021. https://t.co/7c3MQyNFac
