The Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder Ben Gamel on the IL and reinstated Josh Lindblom from the bereavement list before today’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
Ben Gamel was placed on the IL with a left quad strain, Brewers announce. Josh Lindblom has been reinstated from the bereavement list to start today.

The lefty outfielder has slashed .237/.315/.404 in 127 plate appearances this season. He started the year off hot, with a new swing that generated more power on display in Summer Camp. When Lorenzo Cain opted out of the season, Gamel got the chance to grab a more regular spot in the lineup. Unfortunately for him, his performance wasn’t as great in live action games and he eventually made way for Avisail Garcia in center.
The team didn’t disclose why Lindblom was on the bereavement list. The move was made before a doubleheader Wednesday with St. Louis and cleared space for extra fresh players ahead of that game. The expectation was always that Lindblom would be activated before today’s start.
