Brett Anderson was only able to survive four Cubs’ hitters in last night’s action. Evidently Anderson injured his right hamstring and had to exit the game. Well it looks like the injury was more than just a tweak.
#Brewers place LHP Brett Anderson on 10-day IL with a strained right hamstring and recall RHP Phil Bickford from the alternate training site.

With sixteen more games to go in the Brewers’ seventeen days without a day off run, losing Anderson is a significant loss. He had been pitching quite well prior to his outing against the Cubs. The oft-injured lefty had pitched to a 4.15 ERA across 17.1 innings pitched before his exit yesterday. Milwaukee will be bringing Phil Bickford up from the Alternate Training Site to take Anderson’s place on the roster. Bickford debuted last year by allowing four runs in his lone inning of work, but looked strong this spring with one run allowed and seven strikeouts versus zero walks in 5.1 innings pitched.
Avisail Garcia left last night’s game with back stiffness. Manager Craig Counsell indicated optimism about his speedy return. Garcia has shown some pop but has been inconsistent this year, totaling a .219/.292/.391 slash with three home runs (86 OPS+) through 72 plate appearances.
Avi Garcia left the game because he had some back tightness, Craig Counsell said. He got work done on it during the game and the Brewers are optimistic he'll be fine.

Of note, Garcia is not in today’s lineup against the Cubs. Hopefully Counsell is just getting him some rest.
