The roster moves keep coming in, and the Injured List is up to 16 players. Prior to the game yesterday, the Brewers made an additional roster move. They placed RHP Eric Yardley on the 10-day IL with a right shoulder strain. As a corresponding move, they recalled RHP Patrick Weigel from the alternate training site.

Yardley last pitched on April 28, where he allowed two runs in two innings in a 6-2 loss to the Marlins. In ten appearances this season, he’s allowed seven earned runs over eleven innings, with an even four strikeout/four walk split. He has allowed at least one run in four of his ten appearances, resulting in a 5.73 ERA.

Meanwhile, Patrick Weigel was recalled to fill the roster spot. Acquired in the Orlando Arcia trade, he was recalled for the first time on April 27. He pitched two scoreless innings on April 28, walking three and striking out four. He was then optioned on April 29 before being recalled again today.

The Brewers also signed some additional catcher depth, adding catcher Christian Kelley on a minor-league deal. Kelley has not played in the majors yet, just making it to Triple-A in 2019. In that season, he hit .179/.251/.282 for Indianapolis.

Finally, to complete the Derek Fisher trade from the offseason, the Brewers sent RHP Paxton Schultz to the Blue Jays. Schultz was drafted by the Brewers in the 14th round of the 2019 draft, and pitched for Rookie-level Rocky Mountain that year, posting a 3.86 ERA in 23.1 innings that season, along with 22 strikeouts compared to 7 walks. He played for Brisbane in the offseason, posting a 3.29 ERA over 13.2 innings in 8 games, as well as a 17/1 K:BB ratio.
