Milwaukee Brewers activate Brett Anderson, option Alec Bettinger, send Eric Lauer to the bullpen

Anderson to start for the Brewers against the Marlins

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers activated Brett Anderson from the 10-day injured list, and he will be starting on the mound for them today.

In a corresponding move, the Brewers optioned Alec Bettinger to AAA Nashville.

Bettinger appeared in two games while up with the big league crew. He was touched up pretty good on May 2 against the Dodgers where he gave up two home runs and eleven earned runs in his major league debut. His performance against the Miami Marlins on May 7 was better. In that game, In that game, he covered three innings and gave up just one run while striking out four.

With the addition of Anderson from the injured list, Eric Lauer moves into a bullpen role. There is a good chance he sees time on the mound today.

Lauer pitched well against the Dodgers in his first action back with the Brewers in awhile on April 29. The Phillies took him deep three times in a loss on May 4. He did strike out seven over six innings in that game.
