Prior to the start of tonight’s series against the Diamondbacks, the Brewers made a move to get another pitcher in the bullpen. They selected the contract of RHP Jake Cousins, who will be making his MLB debut. To clear a roster spot for him (both on the active and 40-man), RHP Zack Godley was designated for assignment.

Jake Cousins has been in the Brewers organization since 2019. This season, he has pitched in sixteen games between Biloxi and Nashville. In 17.2 IP, he has posted a 2.55 ERA (2.08 ERA in Nashville, 3.00 in Biloxi), as well as 30 strikeouts compared to 5 walks. This is his first call up to the majors, and he will be making his MLB debut. According to RosterResource on FanGraphs, Cousins will have all three options available.

Meanwhile, Zack Godley’s stay with the Brewers is short-lived as he is designated for assignment. He pitched in just one game after being selected. In yesterday’s game, he pitched just 0.1 innings and allowed three hits (two of those for home runs) as well as three runs.
