After announcing a series of roster moves earlier today, the Brewers were not done quite yet. They made one more set of moves today. Devin Williams, who was placed on the IL with right elbow discomfort, was activated today prior to tonight’s game against the Pirates. Williams has struggled a bit this season, but in 13 innings over 15 appearances prior to his injury, he had allowed just one earned run (0.69 ERA), eight hits, and six walks, while striking out 20. He has limited opposing batters to a batting line of just .178/.288/.289 in that time period.
To make room for Williams, Angel Perdomo was optioned back to Nashville. Perdomo had been recalled when Williams was placed on the IL originally. He has pitched 2.2 innings over 3 appearances since his recalled, allowing just one run and one hit (a home run) over those appearances, while recording six strikeouts. Overall this season, his strikeout rate has been strong (25 K in 15.1 IP in the majors), but the results haven’t been completely there. He has allowed at least 1 run in 6 of his 16 appearances this season, giving him a 6.46 ERA.
