The trade deadline is upon us and the Brewers are reportedly wrapping up a deal to acquire LHP Daniel Norris from the Detroit Tigers. RHP Reese Olson, the Crew’s 2018 13th round draft pick one of the more promising pitching prospects in the Brewers’ farm system, to be the return piece in the trade.

The 28 year-old Norris has struggled for Detroit, and could likely be a better reliever for the Brewers than his 5.89 ERA and 1.45 WHIP suggests. Norris has a .354 average on balls in play working against him, and his 3.78 FIP suggests he’ll perform better with a stronger defense behind him. Furthermore, he has an underused changeup, and will likely shine a bit brighter on a team with a recent history of dominant changeup pitchers.
Norris will be a free agent after the 2021 season.
