The Brewers cases are coming back around as players begin recovering from COVID-19. Over the weekend, Christian Yelich returned from the IL as Adrian Houser was placed on it. Today, the Brewers got another player back, as Hunter Strickland was activated from the IL. Strickland had been out since July 31 due to a positive test for COVID-19. However, both he and Jake Cousins were cleared to return earlier today, and Cousins could return tomorrow.
Hunter Strickland and Jake Cousins have both cleared re-entry testing and are awaiting activation by the Brewers. Strickland could be as early as tonight. Cousins could be as early as tomorrow.— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) August 9, 2021
Meanwhile, Blaine Hardy was returned to Triple-A Nashville as the corresponding move. Hardy was originally selected from Nashville after Strickland originally went on the IL. Hardy made one appearance, giving up three runs (two earned) in an inning of work. Since Hardy was originally selected as a replacement for a player who went out due to COVID-19 during an outbreak, Hardy may not have to pass through waivers to be removed from the 40-man roster.
