Stearns wants out!!!!????

OK good headline to get you to look right?

So hear me out on this. Overall David Stearns has done a good job to assemble a competitive team. He seems to have or like the same kind of offensive player. The offenses he assembles typically are big swingers which causes the offense to peak and valley through the season. They score runs in bunches and then go through a week of scoring nothing.

With Stearns contract coming up there were rumors circulating the NY Mets were interested. Stearns would probably be a perfect fit. Turn around that dumpster fire he could certainly do.

This off season I 'assumed" and I understand there is still some time. Since FA had not much the Brewers needed. Stearns would develop a trade of a couple pitchers, deal from strength, and get a solid bat for first base. First being the weakest of the positions to add a bat. But nothing so far has happened. They sign a back up OF which they really do not need. They got enough fill ins to handle that.

I wonder if Stearns doesn't want to make a bunch of deals IF he leaves for the Metropolitans. Whether ownership has said ride the pitching and you got a limited budget to get the offense in shape. He tried to trade for Luke Voit or someone and they just couldn't come to terms. Which makes no sense being they would offer pitching and most teams need it.

Thoughts?
