The Albert Pujols signing was made by the St. Louis Cardinals for a multitude of reasons. First, it was to add his bat to the lineup, specifically against left-handed pitchers, a role he thrived in with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Second, it was to reunite him with Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright which, by all accounts, will be their Last Dance. It’s good for the three career-long friends. It’s good PR by the Cardinals. The move, which was low-cost, came at virtually no risk to the team. It was a move that they should have made and ultimately ended up doing after initially calling it highly unlikely.
