No More Beard to Fear on Thames

Eric Thames is back from the DL, but he's decided to leave something else behind. In pregame warmups today, Thames came in with a clean-shaven face, getting rid of his well-known beard. He's now the second Brewer to chop off the beard recently, joining Brandon Woodruff after he shaved his beard off. Time to update your media photos (again).
The Cubs smuggled Spotted Cow across the border
The Cubs team bus smuggling cases of Spotted Cow back to Chicago, further proving the best things come from Wisconsin pic.twitter.com/uz5UeGQ9yk
— John Austin (@agoetsch16) June 13, 2018
Likely looking to drown their sorrows after losing 2 of 3 to the Brewers, the Chicago Cubs appear to have been busted smuggling New Glarus' Spotted Cow across the Illinois border on their team bus. Clearly the State of Wisconsin needs to invest more in border patrol. Carrying the "Wisconsin Only" brew across the border after buying is fine, but bar owners outside of Wisconsin have actually been charged with felonies before for secretly selling the beer across state lines. We'll just take this as tacit acknowledgement that Wisconsin beer is superior to those brewed in Chicago.
In new shortened season, Brewers win the World Series (Satire article from The Onion)
The Onion is a satire website (formerly a newspaper) that publishes pieces of satire based on different pieces of news going on around the world. One of the pieces it touched on yesterday were the newest pace of play initiatives, joking that they sped up the season so much that it was over in a day. However, in a nice twist, they picked the Brewers as the World Series champs, beating the Astros in six games. While there's 161 games plus playoffs to still go in this season, it's nice to see some sites thinking the Brewers can win the World Series, even if it's not in a serious context.

Tim Dillard performed at the Univision Awards
Tim Dillard has been pitching with the Milwaukee Brewers' organization for the last 15 seasons, but in recent years he has began to earn more notoriety for his escapades off than field than he ever did for his 73 MLB appearances. Dillard and teammates can often be found lip-syncing on his Twitter account (@DimTillard), and his affinity for Latin music has helped him develop a quite a following in Spanish-speaking countries. Back in April, Dillard was featured in a spot on Univision Deportes talking about his antics, and he apparently parlayed that into an appearance at last night's Univision Awards. There's no telling how much longer Dillard plans on continuing on the mound, but he certainly seems to have found a calling in the entertainment industry once he hangs up his spikes. It would really be a darn shame if the Brewers don't figure out some way to include him as a television or radio personality with the organization once he concludes his playing career.

Umpire Joe West hit in head by baseball from stands during Brewers-Marlins game

During tonight's Brewers-Marlins game, the game was stopped for several minutes during the fourth inning after umpire Joe West was hit in the head by a ball from the stands. The teams came off the field as the umpires spoke with security about the incident. There's no word about if the person who threw the ball was caught or not, but hopefully they will be. There's no reason to ever justify throwing a baseball at anyone, especially an umpire.

FOUR-HOMER GAME FOR @Sgennett2!! pic.twitter.com/PcAd0ZUc1g
Scooter Gennett, who the Brewers DFA'd just before the end of spring training, is having himself a pretty nice season for his hometown Reds as a utility player. Today, he put his name in the history books by becoming just the 17th MLB player all-time to hit four home runs in a single game. Facing off against the Cardinals, Gennett went 5-5 with 4 homers and 10 runs batted in. He now owns a .302/.336/.578 batting line with 7 home runs in 122 plate appearances this season while appearing at 2B, 3B, LF, and RF. (Statistics courtesy of Fangraphs)

Junior Guerra hasn't had his best stuff today, but he got some help from his new center fielder when he threw out Denard Span trying to stretch a single into a double in the third inning. Holy cow, what a rocket from Maverick.
