Logan Schafer has a broken thumb, Gindl is ok

2

Schafer fractured his thumb sliding into second base yesterday. It's unclear how much time he'll miss, but he's done for the spring. Gindl, meanwhile, showed no significant damage in his MRI and should be back in action in a few days.

Mark Rogers optioned to AAA

Per McCalvy - he said he had no answers to the obvious questions, but will work on getting them. His quick blub has Gord Ash saying "we didn't think he'd be ready."

Chris Dickerson (ribs), Logan Schafer (right thumb) sent for X-rays

Both left today's game with those injuries. At the moment Ryan Braun, Jeremy Reed and Brandon Boggs are the only three healthy outfielders in camp. Erick Almonte and Mark Kotsay can also play a corner, and I'd expect to see them do so a couple of times in the next couple of days.

Following the quake in Japan, which hit near his home, Saito will be gone for an undetermined period of time. His wife and daughters are fine, status of his parents is unknown. UPDATE: Saito has found out that his whole extended family is safe. He has approval from the Brewers to return to Japan if he chooses to return.

I'm still a little hoarse today, but I did my best this afternoon on an interview with Dan O'Donnell for Brewers Weekly on WTMJ. The show starts at 8, and I'll be on around 8:30.

No Frosty Mug today

Morning folks, I'm back from vacation but got in really late last night. In addition, I seem to have contracted some weird Grand Canyon Plague on the trip. I need a day to catch up on sleep and recuperate. The Mug will return tomorrow. Thanks for understanding, KL

Greinke out with broken rib

166

Via McCalvy: "Zack Greinke has a fractured rib and won't be ready by opening day. Lots more to come on Brewers.com but we're about to get details from Dr." Edit: Word from Haudricourt is that Greinke says he got hurt playing pickup basketball this offseason. It's a hairline rib fracture, normal recovery time is four to six weeks.
