Keston Hiura was widely considered to be the top college hitter available in the 2017 MLB Draft, but part of the reason that he fell to the Milwaukee Brewers at #9 overall were concerns about his throwing elbow and the possibility of Tommy John surgery. Hiura rehabbed the injury after getting selected and has thus far been able to avoid going under the knife, but needless to say it raised some alarm when he was scratched from yesterday’s scrimmage with “arm soreness.” According to the Brewers, however, the issue is not something that they are especially worried about:
Hiura will reportedly take a few days off from throwing, and he was not in the lineup in tonight’s scrimmage at Miller Park. The 23 year old second baseman hit .303/.368/.570 with 19 home runs in 84 games as a rookie last season and is expected to be an anchor in the middle of the batting order this year and for many more moving forward.
Elsewhere in well-regarded young players, Luis Urias remains in the COVID-19 protocol despite being asymptomatic. Urias has not been able to produce the required two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. Per President of Baseball Ops David Stearns, “[t]his is something that we’re going to be dealing with the entire year. Every club is. You just don’t know how long it takes to [shake] the virus. Sometimes it’s gone pretty quickly, and sometimes it can take weeks or even months. I know Luis is enormously frustrated, especially since he feels completely healthy.” With only a week until the regular season begins, it is unclear if Urias will be available or ready for Opening Day.
Finally, Brett Anderson left yesterday’s scrimmage with a blister issue on his throwing hand. He will refrain from throwing for the next several days. Anderson had previously been on a track to throw the second game of the regular season, but now the Brewers don’t expect to have any updates on his status until Monday.

If he was mic'd up all year, I might not mind him coaching third.
By AKBrewfan on 07.16.20 11:35pm
Could we use the mic cable to pin his arm to his side?

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't think that Sedar sends runners too often.

I think it is just that Eddie has been there forever
everyone has their own ‘favorite’ bad send from Eddie moment, but when you look at the overall body of work, I think he has done a great job for the Brewers.
AND…the attitude is infectious…I hope everyone had the opportunity to hear Suter do play by play work as Eddie Sedar. Rock and BA were dying laughing because he NAILED it.

I think his mistakes are relatively few
And he’s clearly an asset to the organization and an awesome guy. It’s just that about once every few weeks he seems to make a really, really bad decision to send someone, and sometimes it really affects the game.
By icelandreliant on 07.17.20 4:22pm
Umm he single-handedly cost the Brewers the division last year
He was directly responsible for 3 losses last year that I can think of just off the top of my head.
By Mitch Slapped on 07.17.20 7:42pm
What about wins he was responsible for?
How does he stack up in comparison to other 3b coaches? Maybe they all cost their teams 4 games so he’s the best there is!

Now that’s funny!

I guess it's a good thing we have about 17 utility players.
They can cover for our "core" infielders Huira, Urias, and Arcia. I’m starting to wonder if Urias is kinda like a Sid Finch deal. People talk about him and say he’s impressive, but has anyone ever seen him??
By Wohlfpack on 07.17.20 1:53pm
Uh oh
You gonna make people mad
By icelandreliant on 07.17.20 4:23pm
How?
Did he leave someone out and you count 18 utilitymen?
